Policies

This guide covers distributing company policies. For recording formal actions against an employee, see Disciplinary Actions.

Purpose

This answers: "Does everyone know the rules, and where do they go to check?"

Policies

A policy is a title and a body of text, with optional file attachments, that can be published to every employee or kept restricted to those managing policy content. Policies are searchable and browsable by anyone they've been published to.

How Visibility Is Decided

  1. Publication. A policy marked visible to everyone is open to all employees; otherwise it's limited to those managing policy content.
  2. Permissions. Creating, editing, and deleting policies all require the relevant permission.

Customization Options

  • Visibility — published to everyone, or restricted — is set per policy.
  • Attachments — any number of files can be added to a policy.

Good to Know

  • A policy's text and its attachments are both searchable and browsable from the same screen — there's no separate document library to check.
