Project
The Project module tracks work outside the core HR processes — projects, the tasks that make them up, and the time spent on them. It's typically used by project managers running the work, with team members picking up and reporting on tasks.
This guide gives the big picture: what the module is for, how a project flows through it end to end, who sees what, and what can be customized. Deeper guides for each area are linked below. No technical background needed.
Purpose
Project answers a simple pair of questions: "What's being worked on, and who's spending time on what?"
Instead of project tracking living in a separate tool, it's part of the same system as everything else:
- Projects, each with their own managers, members, and timeline.
- A visual task board per project, with as many stages as the work needs.
- Time logged against a project or a specific task.
What's Included
Project is made up of a few connected areas, each covered in its own guide:
| Area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Projects & Tasks | Creating a project, its managers and members, the task board, and individual tasks. |
| Timesheets | Logging time against a project or task. |
| Project Dashboard | The module's own at-a-glance view of project activity — see below. |
How Work Flows Through Project
- A project is created — a title, description, start and (optionally) end date, an optional reference document, and its managers and members.
- A task board is ready immediately. Every new project starts with a first stage, ready for tasks to be added.
- Tasks are created and assigned to the project's stages, each with its own managers and members, and an optional due date.
- Tasks move across the board as work progresses — to do, in progress, and completed.
- Time gets logged against a project or a specific task, by whoever worked on it.

| Log time | — | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
In short:
- Employees not involved in a project have no visibility into it.
- Members — of a project or of a specific task — can see and work what they're part of, and log their own time.
- Project Managers have full control over their project: its details, stages, tasks, and membership.
- HR Administrators with the relevant permission see and manage everything company-wide.
How Visibility Is Decided
- Being a manager or member. Of the project itself, or of a specific task within it — either is enough to see and work with that piece of the project.
- Reporting line, for tasks specifically. A manager can see their direct reports' tasks even without being a project participant themselves — the standard manager-hierarchy visibility used across the system. This doesn't extend to seeing the parent project's own details, only the tasks.
- Permissions. Company-wide visibility across every project requires the relevant permission.
- Company. Projects belong to the company they were created under.
Customization Options
- Stages are fully configurable per project — however many the work needs, in whatever order, with one marked as the finishing stage.
- A reference document can be attached to a project or a task.
- Due dates are optional per task.
Project Dashboard
Alongside the project and task views, Project has its own at-a-glance view. It shows:
- Totals — how many projects exist, and how many are new or in progress.
- What's due this month — projects with an end date coming up.
- Status breakdowns — projects and tasks, charted by status.
Good to Know
- Every new project gets a starting stage automatically, so there's always somewhere to put the first task.
- Membership is the main gate. Being added as a project or task manager or member is what opens up that piece of work — there's no company-wide default visibility beyond the administrator permission.
- Numbers reflect the selected company. In a multi-company setup, projects and tasks are scoped to the company currently selected.
Every task, every hour, in one place.
